I’m Jennifer Kogan, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and Registered Social Worker licensed in Washington, DC (LICSW) and Ontario, Canada (RSW). With 30 years of training and experience I support individuals, couples and families through life’s many changes and challenges. Whether you’re navigating a transition, feeling overwhelmed, or seeking greater clarity, there are many ways I can help.

A Compassionate and Affirming Space

As your therapist, I will meet you where you are; with presence, compassion, and care. I understand that we all have our own way of thinking, feeling, and moving through the world. I believe we’re all doing the best we can — and that sometimes, we just need a little help.

My Approach

There are many ways I can help because your story is unique and you are too. My work and training is grounded in:

  • Compassion-Focused therapy

  •  Family Systems therapy

  •  Gottman method therapy (Level 3) 

  • Self-compassion Practice

Why Self-Compassion Matters

Self-compassion means treating yourself the way you would treat a loved one or a good friend.

Research shows that self-compassion can:

  • Improve mood and emotional well-being

  • Reduce anxiety, shame, stress, and depression

  • Boost resilience, motivation, and connection

It’s a powerful practice that can also enhance feelings of well-being and joy.

  • Co-chair of the Advocacy Council for the The Jewish Therapist Collective (JTC) with my colleague, Andrea Yudell,
