Welcome to my private practice. I’m Jennifer Kogan, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and Registered Social Worker licensed in Washington, DC (LICSW) and Ontario, Canada (RSW).
With 30 years of experience supporting individuals, couples and families across the life cycle there are many ways I can help you. I have advanced training in Compassion-Focused therapy, Family Systems therapy and Gottman method (Level 3) therapy.
Most of us can benefit from learning how to practice Self-compassion which is simply treating yourself the way you would care for a dear friend. Research shows that the kinder we are to ourselves the better we feel. Self-compassion has also been shown to improve mood, performance and reduce feelings of anxiety, stress, shame and depression. Learning how to be kinder to yourself can also enhance feelings of well-being and joy.
Other specialties I offer are support and counseling for Jewish clients, Psychotherapists, and those in the LGBTQ2S+ community. As your therapist, I consider and honor differences in how people think and feel. I believe we are all doing the best we can and sometimes we need a little help.
